Introduction

Selangor, though the hub of development and the most developed state in the country, has faced severe water supply disruptions for many years.
According to Malaysia’s Water Association‘s report, in 2016, 49.5% of all water supply issues in Malaysia were reported in Selangor, and in 2017 the number rose to 62.4%.
The water shortage issue in Selangor was mainly due to the lack of water conservation and the pollution of water bodies.
Hence, we should not waste drops of water and start conserving water for further use.

Problem statement

The rainwater harvesting system is targeted to:

To conserve rainwater for daily water usage and reduce the strain on local water utilities
To provide the consumer a self-sustainable water source so that they are not suffering during water cut-off

Rainwater harvesting is the simple process or technology used to conserve rainwater by collecting, storing, conveying and purifying of rainwater that runs off from rooftops, parks, roads, open grounds, etc. for later use.
It is one of the best methods practized and followed to support the conservation of water. Today, scarcity of good quality water has become a significant cause of concern. However, rainwater, which is pure and of good quality, can be used for irrigation, washing, cleaning, bathing, cooking and also for other livestock requirements.
